A dozen of Broad Plain's finest travelled to this fixture, and i'm delighted to say they all put in a real shift and seemed very happy at the end - despite the mud, wind, and rain.
For those interested, we lost all four 10 minute matches. However there was spirit in abundance with every lad putting in plenty of effort - which is all we asked of them at the start! We scored a few tries, which is always good for the confidence, and once again there was plenty of effort in defending our own line.
We struggled to defend against pacey runners from the deep, and many tries against us came from this, but we competed much better in the tight areas. The handling was good on a day when it shouldn't have been, and the boys made some good yards with ball in hand and the supporting player was usually available too.
It was great to see a couple of "old boys" today - with both Jake and Wes playing well against their former teammates! In fact there was a good spirit from all players throughout the morning.
A word too for the Clifton ref - Excellent!
